History: The Belcrest Apartments

Built in 1926 as the Belcrest Hotel, this historic building has been a significant icon in the city of Detroit for nearly a century. With twelve stories of apartments and commercial spaces, the Belcrest towers over the bustling Cass Avenue and the surrounding Wayne State University campus.

Recent renovations have brought forth the forgotten character, from original plasterwork and polished concrete floors, to the original subway tile and cast iron bathtubs.

Throughout its twelve floors the Belcrest features a collection of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom, and three bedroom penthouse suites.

An interior room with a black pool table at the center, surrounded by large windows allowing natural light, decorated with ornate white ceiling molding, chandeliers, and checkered tiled flooring.
